Key West Gay Friendly Hotels
Key West gay friendly hotels can be found all over the island. There are several sorts of specialty guest houses in Key West, including gay guest houses which advertise themselves as gay friendly. There are also clothing optional guest houses, and some of these are gay as well. Here's a rundown of the Key West gay friendly guest houses in Key West:
Lighthouse CourtThis is located at 902 Whitehead Street. They say it's New York Style, which means edgier and for a more hip crowd. They're just one block from Duval Street, located in the heart of Old Town. The buildings were built in 1800s to 1920s.
Big Ruby'sLocated at 409 Applerouth Lane, this is the oldest gay guest house in the United States! They serve great breakfast, with fruit and juice, and their jacuzzi is large enough to accommodate 5 people. Big Ruby's also has guest houses in France and Costa Rica. Lots of things to do right on the premesis, like use their gym, watch the large-screen tv in the lounge, and relax in the landscaped lush tropical gardens. The treetop walkway overlooks a tropical garden and if you like photography this makes a great subject. They have attention to detail in things like quality percale sheets, lush towels, and specialty soaps for shower. They are close to Duval Street, down a quaint little alley from the main drag.
Coconut GroveCoconut Grove is proudly gay, and has recently renovated their sixteen rooms for a fresh, breezy, airy look. They have a pool, spa, and lush tropical garden setting for the two homes and cottage. They boast interesting guests and friendly staff, emphasizing the social aspect of staying here. The tree top suite is fun, and all rooms are redecorated with island tropical style that lends itself nicely to a Key West vacation. Breakfast is served poolside, and in the evening there are snacks and wine and beer.
Alexander's GuesthouseLocated at 1118 Fleming Street, Alexander's is a gay and lesbian-friendly resort just steps away from Duval Street. Like many guesthouses in Key West, the center of activity is at the pool, where evening cocktails are served every night, and breakfast is served every morning. They also have sundecks, spa, wireless braodband, and high style decor in the rooms. The building itself was built in early twentieth century, and depicts traditional Key West architecture. There are mostly couples here, and the atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming. Alexander's Guesthouse receives all sorts of awards from travel and gay magazines for its prominence as an outstanding B&B.
Island HouseAlso located on Fleming Street, at number 1129, Island House is for extroverts. It's definitely Key West gay friendly! The comound of buildings is enclosed in a perimeter fence, since clothing is optional. The pool and jacuzzi are open 24 hours a day. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner at the care next to the pool, so there's always something going on. They have complimentary happy hour by the pool every evening. There's a 24-hour erotic video lounge. Need we say more?
